explore the region

Puglia is referred to as the ‘heel of the boot’ in Italy. Steeped in unique culinary tradition and fantastical landscapes, Puglia is surging in popularity. While here, be sure not to miss on all it has to offer - from exploring hill towns and farmer’s markets to the beaches, wineries and olive mills. Trulli Trazzonara is centrally located in Valle d’Itria making it the ideal hub for your Italian adventure.

nearby towns

There are many fascinating towns to visit in the area, all with charming historical centers. Explore the winding street of Ostuni “the White City” (pictured), the charm of Cisternino, the baroque architecture of Martina Franca, the foodie’s heaven of Ceglie Messapica, the magical caves of Castellana Grotte, the breathtaking cliffs of Pogliano a Mare, the unique “trulli” fairy tale town and UNESCO World Heritage Site of Alberobello, the colorful history of the major ports of Brindisi and Bari and the stunning beauty of Lecce “the Florence of the South”.

beaches

The Puglian coastline has long stretches of golden sandy beaches, dunes and inviting seas. Here you are a short 30 minute drive from the beaches of Savelletri (25 km) on the Adriatic coast. For the perfect beach club experience, our favorite is Lido Bambu with palapa umbrellas, relaxing sun loungers and an excellent restaurant. Just north along the Adriatic Sea is the Torre Guaceto Nature Reserve (Puglia’s top location for kite-surfing), the little gem Capitolo, Punta Penna and the picturesque beach town of Polignano a Mare.

wineries & olive mills

Puglia is Italy’s most important olive oil producing region with about 60 million olive trees producing almost half of Italy’s olive oil yearly and 12% of the world’s total production. In the land of olive oil, it’s a fantastic experience to visit an old olive press and taste some of the region’s liquid gold. One of our favorite places is Masseria Brancati with guided tours through centuries-old olive groves and ending with a superb olive oil tasting.

Wineries in Puglia welcome visitors from all around the world to come for fun wine tasting and tour experiences. Plus, visiting wineries are a great way of stocking up on wine for your stay at Trulli Trazzonara. Two nearby wineries we recommend are I Pastini and Masseria Croce Piccola.

local farmer’s markets

Virtually every town in the area has its 'market day' on a particular day of the week. The Pugliese markets are incredibly colourful and lively, they're attractions in their own right.
